Our Own Mounting Factory, a Traditional Craft
Sinoscrolls is the online store of our own Chinese painting mounting factory in China, with more than 15 years of experience in the craft. Mounting (zhuāngbiǎo, 装裱) is the traditional art of backing a painting with layers of paper, framing it in silk borders and fitting it with wooden rollers, so it can be hung, rolled, stored and enjoyed for years.
Mounting is our everyday work. Sinoscrolls is how we share it directly with art lovers around the world.
Hand-Mounted in Our Own Workshop
Every scroll we sell is mounted in our own factory. We don’t buy finished scrolls from other suppliers, so we look after each piece from start to finish:
- The image: each painting is a fine art reproduction of a classical Chinese masterpiece, printed on xuan paper, the traditional paper of Chinese painting and calligraphy.
- The mounting: every scroll is backed, framed with silk brocade borders and fitted with wooden rollers by hand. This is our standard mounting for all of our scrolls.
- The finish: every scroll is inspected before it is rolled, packed in a protective tube and shipped to you.
Masterpieces for Everyday Spaces
Our collection brings classical Chinese landscapes into modern homes, from Tang Yin’s Viewing a Waterfall in Empty Mountains to the Song-style Autumn Colors on Streams and Mountains. We are honest about what we sell: our scrolls are reproductions, not originals or antiques. What we add is more than 15 years of mounting experience, so each scroll looks and hangs the way a traditional scroll should.
