About the Original Artwork
“Viewing a Waterfall in Empty Mountains” is a hanging scroll painting by Tang Yin, a celebrated painter of the Ming Dynasty. The original work, ink on paper, depicts towering peaks, two pines standing at the summit, and a waterfall cascading down a cliff, with a scholar quietly watching the scene below. The painting reflects Tang Yin’s distinctive style in rendering rocks and mountains, and it features both the artist’s own inscription and a poem by Emperor Qianlong. The original is now in the collection of the National Palace Museum, Taipei.
