About the Artwork
“Ink Bamboo” is a slender ink painting of bamboo in the manner of Shitao, rendered with free, expressive brushwork and generous empty space, with inscription and seals that are part of the original composition.
Meaning
Bamboo is one of the “Four Gentlemen” of Chinese painting, standing for humility, integrity and an upright character. Its narrow format suits entryways, hallways and narrow walls.
