About the Original Artwork
“Enjoying Tea” (Pincha Tu) was painted by Wen Zhengming in 1531. In a thatched cottage among tall pines, two scholars sit facing each other over tea while a servant tends the stove in the next room, and a guest crosses a bridge to join them. Wen Zhengming’s poem about tea is written at the top. The original, ink and light colour on paper, is in the collection of the National Palace Museum, Taipei.
Meaning
A perfect painting for a tea room or study: friendship, leisure and the quiet pleasure of tea.
