About the Original Artwork
“Whispering Pines in the Mountains” (Wanhe Songfeng Tu) was painted by Li Tang in 1124. Massive cliffs and a central peak rise behind a dense forest of pines, with clouds drifting through the valleys and a stream rushing below. The signature and date are hidden on a distant peak. The original, ink and colour on silk, is in the collection of the National Palace Museum, Taipei.
Meaning
Wind in the pines stands for strength, integrity and endurance.
About This Reproduction
This is a high-quality giclée (fine-art print) reproduction on xuan paper, not an original antique or hand-painted artwork. Our scroll is enlarged from the original and is not actual size. Each piece is made to order and inspected before shipping.
About the Artist
Li Tang (c. 1050–after 1130) bridged the Northern and Southern Song academies; his powerful “axe-cut” brushstrokes influenced generations of painters.
